QUALITY FRAMEWORK FOR COSMETIC MEDICINE
On November 12, 2019, the Cosmetic Medicine Quality Framework was published. The popularity of cosmetic procedures has increased considerably in recent years, and unfortunately they were not always performed by qualified doctors, resulting in an increasing number of complications. Some years ago the alarm was sounded and the minister commissioned the Netherlands Healthcare Institute to draw up a quality framework in cooperation with several key parties.
Founders of Ivy clinics, Judith Eggersman and Natale Adamo, were closely involved. It was a long process and we are therefore proud that the Quality Framework for Cosmetic Medicine is now a fact. Cosmetic surgery may only be performed by qualified doctors who can prove that they have completed the correct training and have sufficient experience. The inspectorate will continue to monitor this strictly.
How do you know if you are dealing with a good doctor?
- the doctor is BIG-registered
- the doctor is affiliated with the professional association (read: the NVCG)
- the physician has demonstrated experience or is working under the supervision of a physician with demonstrated experience in a training program
- the doctor is affiliated with an independent review system such as, for example Klantenvertellen
As a clinic, we take our responsibility and believe it is important for clients to do their own proper research as well. Therefore, we are transparent in who we are and what we do. This is how we raise cosmetic medicine to a higher level together.
Karin Zaal, quality manager at Ivy clinics:
” At Ivy clinics, we make every effort to ensure the safety of our clients. Our quality management system includes all (medical) protocols and guidelines to prevent harm and emergencies. Through both internal and external audits (in collaboration with the NVCG, pharmacist and a hospital hygienist, among others), we ensure that we meet all applicable quality and safety requirements.
Our physicians are KNMG registered or in the process of becoming so and are affiliated with the NVCG. The NVCG emphasizes the goal of improving the quality and education of medical cosmetic treatments. Therefore, we are required to adhere to the Cosmetic Medicine Quality Framework. Click here to read the quality framework and feel free to contact with me should you have any questions.”
