Lower and upper eyelid surgery at the same time
Surgical eyelid surgery consists of a number of indications, some or all of which are sometimes corrected during the procedure. In most cases, there is excess and sagging skin above the eyes. This is trimmed away during eyelid surgery. In some cases, there is additionally muscle weakness, causing the eyelid to hang lower. This, too, can be corrected during the procedure. We do this by slightly shortening the muscle that lifts the eyelid.
Often the fat compartment below, which provides protection for the eyes, is somewhat sagging. This causes puffiness and lines across the cheeks. We correct this by removing excess fat and repositioning the compartment in its proper place. We also remove excess skin under the eye during eyelid surgery.
