Filler complications after administration of COVID-19 vaccine
Recently in most major newspapers the report that fillers can cause complications after the administration of a COVID-19 vaccine.
In some cases, it seems that the COVID-19 vaccination (reported at Pfizer & Moderna vaccines) can trigger a hypersensitivity reaction at the site where a person was treated with fillers, manifesting as swelling and redness. Because fillers are foreign material and a vaccine triggers your immune system, an allergic reaction could occur. Usually the reaction then occurs within 48 hours of the vaccination.
Of course, as medics, we have known about this for some time and have integrated this science into our protocols. In the medical questionnaire that clients fill out before coming, when booking online and before treatment, we actively ask if someone has recently been vaccinated or is going to be vaccinated. In this case, it is better to reschedule the appointment. We recommend that two weeks before and two weeks after the scheduled vaccination do not undergo treatment with fillers.
But no worries, should you experience a reaction where you have had fillers injected at Ivy clinics, feel free to call us, we can treat the reaction.
