Choose quality
Cosmetic treatments are hot. Unfortunately, things do go wrong on a regular basis, as was shown on Radar January 6. This often involves treatments performed by beauticians using plasma devices or hyaluronic pens. These techniques can cause (permanent) damage. At Ivy clinics only BIG registered doctors and skin therapists who are well trained and have gained a lot of experience under supervision work.
In addition, Ivy clinics invests a lot of time and money in (ISO and NVCG) certification, a quality manager and high quality equipment. We feel it is important to properly inform clients about what can go wrong when you don’t properly research who you are treating and with what equipment.
The numbers at a glance
From a survey conducted by radar in cooperation with the Dutch Association for Cosmetic Medicine (NVCG), 71 percent of participants (55 out of 77 participating physicians) said they knew a patient who had experiences with a complication following cosmetic treatment with medical equipment by non-authorized persons.
It also shows that of the 55 cosmetic doctors who see patients with complications passing, 95 percent indicated that the treatment that led to the complication was performed by a cosmetologist.
These doctors alone account for more than 400 cases. 33 percent of doctors (additionally) have experience with complications that have occurred after someone has undergone cosmetic treatment at a dentist’s office.
Also, 13 percent indicated that treatments were performed by a (BIG-registered) physician, who also has the competence to use these specific devices.

The dangerous hyaluronic pens
Unfortunately, on websites like AliExpress and Marketplace, you can easily buy equipment that allows you to do cosmetic treatments. Prices range widely from 10 to 200 euros.
The hyaluronic pen is used to mimic treatment with injectable fillers because beauticians are not allowed to inject. The pen squeezes hyaluronic acid into the skin at a speed of about 800 km per hour. For 100 to 150 euros thicker lips. In clinic, a filler treatment easily costs 300 to 500 euros.
What is not told is that the hyaluron molecules are far too large to penetrate the skin. So this hyaluronic pen is a sandwich story. You can only benefit from hyaluronic acid when it is injected with a needle by a competent and skilled cosmetic doctor.
Plasma treatments and pigment damage
Even with cheaper plasma devices you can do great damage. Ivy clinics works with the PlexR, a proven, safe and effective device provided the treatment is performed, by experienced and well-trained BIG registered professionals.
This is very important because if you perform a treatment incorrectly with cheap equipment, you can create permanent pigment damage with the plasma method.
Precare (intake) and aftercare (information and post-treatment products) are also very important to ensure your safety as a client. An intake at Ivy clinics is therefore always free of charge, so be well informed by our cosmetic consultants and skin therapists. We will be happy to help you and explain all the pros and cons so that you can make an informed decision.
