What is a cosmetic doctor?
Nowadays, many people want to look young and fresh. The taboo on cosmetic surgery is increasingly disappearing and a growing number of people are using cosmetic treatments. Since June 2019, cosmetic doctor , KNMG is even a protected title.
Only cosmetic doctors who may also use the suffix “KNMG” meet the profile specialty of cosmetic medicine and are listed in the profile register of the KNMG (Royal Dutch Society for the Advancement of Medicine). Clients and patients can see in this public register whether their cosmetic doctor is KNMG-certified.
Cosmetic doctors perform various cosmetic treatments such as injectables (botox and fillers), various laser treatments and peels, as well as surgical treatments such as upper and lower eyelid surgery, earlobe surgery and liposuction.
As a cosmetic doctor, you will first learn all about injectables so that you can apply for profile recognition with the KNMG and then you can continue to expand your skills. Before you have profile recognition you work under the supervision of a doctor who already has it. You can read more about this on the website of the Dutch Association for Cosmetic Medicine, the NVCG, at www.nvcg.nl.
What does a cosmetic doctor do?
A cosmetic doctor performs treatments that make a person look better. For example, you may not feel good about yourself because you have droopy eyelids. You look tired, have headaches and your vision may even diminish. A cosmetic doctor can treat you in that case.
Cosmetic surgery often takes place because you are not satisfied, but also because it causes you other complaints. Your drooping eyelids can cause both physical and psychological problems. Ivy clinics helps you by making eyelid surgery accessible to everyone. Our cosmetic doctors are well trained and have extensive experience with both cosmetic and surgical procedures.
It may also be that your skin has aged and you would like to look younger again. This can often be done with injectables or other minor procedures. It may also be that you suffer from fat deposits and would like liposuction or lipolaser treatment.
Whether you are unsure of your appearance or just want to look younger and fresher again, our cosmetic physicians are here to help you make the right choice.
Cosmetic surgery
There is a difference between cosmetic treatments with injectables or lasers, for example, and surgical treatments. Most cosmetic doctors specialize in injectables, namely administering botox and fillers.
Some, including the doctors at Ivy clinics have further specialized in surgical procedures such as upper eyelid surgery, lower eyelid surgery, earlobe surgery and also liposuction. These are all treatments under local anesthesia that we perform in our outpatient treatment rooms.
