Novuma is a biostimulating filler. This means that Novuma restores thinning and sagging skin. Novuma consists of a soft gel containing very small round spheres (microspheres) composed of calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHA). These microspheres make the gel white in color. The soft gel provides an immediate lifting effect and completely breaks down after a few weeks.
In the meantime, microspheres go to work for you. These cause the activation of fibroblasts, which produce new collagen. As they do this, the microspheres are slowly broken down. What is left behind is a network of new collagen fibers, which provides long-lasting firm, lifted skin.
Treatment with Novuma is particularly suitable for people with (incipient) skin aging who want to improve the quality of their skin, with natural results. Novuma can be used for drier or thinner skin, sagging skin, loss of volume and to improve overall skin quality.
For men and women who want to reduce and prevent skin aging, such as skin sagging, fine lines and moderate to deep volume loss.
We often start bio-stimulators such as Novuma from the age of 40.
The treatment is suitable for, among others:
Novuma is a new generation collagen-stimulating filler based on calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHA), designed to provide volume and stimulate the skin’s natural collagen production for a long time. Thanks to its innovative microsphere technology (25-45 microns) and biocompatible Carboxymethyl Cellulose gel carrier, Novuma offers a perfect balance between immediate visible results and long-term skin improvement.
Thus, unlike traditional fillers, Novuma works in two ways: an immediate lifting effect followed by a lasting firming of the skin’s structure through stimulation of fibroblasts. Clinical results show a sustained effect of 12 to 24 months.
Novuma works in two ways: immediate effect and long-term stimulation.
Compared to hyaluronic acid fillers:
| Feature | Novuma (CaHA) | Hyaluronic acid (HA) |
|---|---|---|
| Direct volume effect | Yes | Yes |
| Collagen stimulation | Strong | Limited |
| Period of operation | 12-24 months | 6-12 months |
| Biostimulation | Via fibroblast activation | Not present |
| Skin improvement type | Structural firming | Hydration and filling |
Novuma is completely biodegraded, leaving behind only new collagen.
At Ivy clinics, we think it’s important that you can make an informed choice. We therefore provide you with all the information about treatment with Novuma during the consultation.
We tell you about the product, the treatment and the expected result. We inform you about costs, recovery and possible side effects. We also discuss possible alternative treatments.
During the consultation, of course, there is plenty of room to ask your questions. The doctor will take the time to answer them all. If you like, you can bring someone with you to the consultation or record the conversation on your phone so you can listen back to it at your leisure later.
A consultation at Ivy clinics is free of charge and without obligation. The consultation in no way obliges you to proceed to treatment. Of course there is time and space for treatment if you wish.
Prior to treatment, photographs are taken for the medical record.
The treatment takes place in a treatment room. You are seated on the treatment chair and any makeup is removed. Then the skin is disinfected. Novuma is injected into the skin with a cannula (a hollow, blunt needle). Several injections are given depending on the treatment area. The syringe contains anesthetic (lidocaine), which makes the treatment a lot less painful. Performing a treatment with Novuma takes about 15-20 minutes, depending on the treatment area.
There are a few things to consider after treatment with Novuma. Immediately after treatment, the site of injection may be red and swollen. This is expected and will go away on its own after 1-2 days.
After treatment, we recommend gently massaging the treated area for five minutes for the first 5 days, five times a day, to promote even distribution of the product.
It is additionally important that you observe the following aftercare advice:
– do not drink alcohol for the first 12 hours after a treatment
– do not use makeup for the first 12 hours
– do not exercise intensively for the first 24 hours
– Avoid bright sunlight for two weeks
– Avoid very high (sauna) and low temperatures (ice baths)
– Do not undergo any other cosmetic (facial) treatments for two weeks, let the skin calm down first
As with any cosmetic procedure, there is a risk of complications with this treatment, albeit very small.
The possible side effects of treatment with Novuma are swelling, redness and bruising. During the intake interview, the practitioner will go over all possible risks and complications with you in detail.
Immediately after treatment, a subtle elevator and improved contour can already be seen. In the following weeks, the results develop further: the skin becomes firmer, plumper and more elastic, while fine lines and folds gradually fade away.
The ultimate skin improvement occurs because Novuma encourages the body to produce its own collagen. This ensures gradual and long-lasting results that last for 12 to 24 months – without altering the natural facial expression.
The result is a fresh, youthful look while maintaining your unique facial features.
Soon we will show here before and after photos of patients who have undergone the Novuma treatment. These images clearly show how volume, firmness and skin quality are restored naturally.
