A pimple is caused by a clogged sebaceous gland. These sebaceous glands are mainly found on the face, chest and back. Therefore, these are the preferred sites for Acne Vulgaris. Due to excessive sebum production, androgen hormones and the P. Acnes bacteria, a sebaceous gland becomes blocked and a pimple develops.
Fortunately, through IPL treatments, we can kill P. Acnes bacteria, inhibit excessive sebum production and reduce skin redness. Usually a course of 8 treatments is required for the desired results. What these treatments look like will be in consultation with you and the skin therapist based on the condition of your skin, and already previous experience treating acne.
On average, the treatment is performed once every 2 weeks. The skin will look better and calm down, however, the cause of the acne is not addressed. As a result, the acne may return after stopping the treatments. Therefore, it is also always good to look at dietary patterns, medication use such as the pill and other factors that may affect it.
