A peel is often used to treat pigmentation spots. Because a peel works exfoliating, the complexion of the skin becomes more even and the pigmentation spots lighter.
Together with the skin therapist, we will determine which peel is best for your skin.
The ME-line is the first and only treatment specializing in all types of hyperpigmentation. The treatment is suitable for all types of skin types, pigment or body parts. ME-line can be divided into three types of treatments.
A treatment for superficial pigment, a treatment for deeper pigment and a spot treatment. Superficial pigment can be reduced by up to 70% in just one treatment. A home treatment with products is necessary for best results.
An IPL laser is a device that emits heat through flashes of light. This heat looks for the pigment spots in the skin.
The discolorations in the skin will be broken down into small pieces. The small pieces of pigment are cleared away by the dermis and drained through the lymphatic system. As a result, the pigment spots will disappear after some time.
With the IPL laser, we can treat many types of pigmentation. Some examples include: general pigmentation, pigmentation spots, age spots, sun damage, skin discoloration and freckles.
The treatment can be used on the whole body. If the desire is to keep pigment spots completely gone, we recommend doing this treatment once a year.
We have two types of IPL Lasers available at our clinics: the Magma Laser and the Spark Pro.
To treat pigment in the best possible way is not only about treatments. You yourself can also make a good contribution to go for maximum results together with the skin therapist.
The skin therapist makes an appropriate product recommendation for your skin. There are a number of active substances against pigmentation that are important in your daily care: vitamin A, vitamin B and vitamin C. But the most important thing is to apply sun protection daily to prevent pigmentation.
Are you bothered by pigment spots and want them to be less visible. Then a good camouflage will suit you. Be sure to camouflage the skin properly, though, because some camouflages can clog the skin.
This is not conducive to the condition of the skin. The skin therapist explains which camouflage is right for you and does a color determination.
Are your pigmentation spots under control, but you still want to take good care of the skin so there is a smaller chance of pigmentation spots coming back. Then the Hydrafacial is for you.
The Hydrafacial provides a thorough cleansing and has an exfoliating effect. The impurities from the pores are removed and it provides intense hydration to the skin. Antioxidants are also infused into the skin which protects it from external harmful substances.

Pigment, also called melanin, is produced in pigment cells (melanocytes). Pigment production occurs deep in the epidermis (upper layer of the skin). Sunlight activates this process.
Pigment cells produce pigment and carry it off to the stratum corneum. The pigment is transported in small granules. Once the pigment enters the stratum corneum, it is visible. In some cases, an irregular pigment distribution can be seen, causing discoloration.
Pigment has several functions namely:
Pigment spots are dark discolorations of the skin and can appear all over the body. These dark discolorations occur because extra pigment is produced. Factors such as sunlight (UV radiation) promote the process.
So the more you are in the sun, the more likely you are to get pigmentation. This is why we at Ivy clinics recommend not overexposing your skin to the sun and also using a good sunscreen.
Dark discoloration is caused by excessive production of pigment in pigment cells. A dark spot is also called hyperpigmentation.
Each pigment spot can look different. It varies in size and intensity of color. Pigment spots can appear anywhere on the body and at any age. Listed below are some of the causes that can cause pigment spots to appear.
Sunlight exposure
How wonderful it is to sit or lie in the sun. We all love it, but what does the sun actually do to the skin? Sunlight is one of the main reasons that pigmentation develops. The body wants to protect the skin from harmful UV rays, causing increased pigment production.
Exposure to sunlight is visible as the color of the skin darkens. Overexposure to sunlight can cause disrupted pigment production which manifests as hyperpigmentation. Therefore, at Ivy clinics we believe it is important to avoid excessive exposure to sunlight and properly protect the skin with sunscreen.

Skin aging
Do you also see some pigmentation spots appear on your skin every year? Pigment spots also called age spots, appear as you age. But how do these spots appear?
As you age, you have most likely had quite a bit of sunlight on your skin in recent years. This increases the production of pigment in pigment cells, but the number of pigment cells decreases.
The remaining pigment cells grow larger and are no longer nicely distributed throughout the skin. This causes you to see dark discoloration in some areas of the skin. The more exposure to the sun the sooner this happens. Therefore, age spots are often visible on the face, backs of hands and décolleté.
Hormonal fluctuations
A pregnancy mask, also called melasma, is common in women. This is due to hormonal fluctuations caused by the birth control pill or pregnancy, among other things.
As a result, female hormones such as estrogen and progesterone can cause overproduction of melanin. This occurs especially when combined with sunlight. Hormonal pigment always expresses itself symmetrically.
Diseases
Pigment spots can also occur as a result of disease such as autoimmune diseases (e.g., vitiligo), metabolic abnormalities (e.g., hemochromatosis) and a vitamin abnormality (e.g., vitamin C deficiency).
Certain treatments and medications can also stimulate pigment production. Examples include: chemotherapy, antibiotics and heart medication.
Inflammation
Dark discoloration of the skin can occur due to an inflammatory skin reaction. Hyperpigmentation can occur after acne or eczema, for example. People with dark skin types have a higher risk of developing pigment after inflammation.
