As the name suggests, the lipolaser belongs to the laser family. A laser is a device that treats a problem area with heat and light in a highly targeted manner.
The laser uses laser light to melt away subcutaneous fat cells. To address sagging, the laser generates subcutaneous heat. This heat is responsible for the production of collagen and elastin; the two essential building blocks for youthful skin.
Before treatment, the area to be treated is marked off by the doctor. This is followed by local anesthesia. When this has taken effect, the doctor will treat the area by painlessly melting away the fat cells by moving the cannula back and forth under the skin in parallel. At the end of the cannula is a fiber. This gives off controlled heat.
The opening through which the cannula passes is so small that it does not need to be sutured. In total, you are in for about 1.5 hours. The actual treatment takes about 15 minutes.
After treatment, the area may be somewhat swollen due to the anesthetic solution. An absorbent dressing is applied which should be worn for 2 days. The pressure of the bandage counteracts the swelling and ensures that the skin adheres well. To promote this process you may wear the bandage a few days longer.
After treatment, it is important to bandage the affected area as soon as possible. This can be done with elastic bandages or pressure garments. Depending on the area treated and whether liposuction has also taken place, there will be a difference in aftercare.
In general, you can just walk and perform light handling if necessary. Insertion openings may leak a little after 12-24 hours.
Paracetamol can be taken for any pain, 2x 500mg every 8 hours.
After 4-6 months, there will be a follow-up checkup. This is the ideal time to see the first results of collagen tightening.
Lipo-laser treatment of the double chin and jawline is a minimally invasive procedure which means, among other things, that the insertion openings do not need to be sutured.
Nevertheless, there is always a chance of infection. To prevent this, antibiotics will be prescribed preventively. In addition, it is possible that small burns may occur in the skin. These heal by themselves. The skin may be blue and sore in the days following the procedure. This will heal by itself.
The treated area may feel somewhat dull for several weeks to months because the nerves are somewhat affected.
The result of the melted away fat cells is visible and permanent after some time; removed fat cells do not come back.
