Liposuction, also known as liposculpture or vibroliposuction, refers to a surgical procedure in which the contours of the body are rebalanced by locally suctioning out subcutaneous fat cells that cause a stubborn build-up. It is not a method of losing weight but a method of safely returning the body to its desired shape.
Ivy clinics specializes in performing tumescent liposuction. This means that you will be locally anesthetized which minimizes risks.
A stubborn accumulation of fat can unbalance the figure. When a healthy lifestyle does not achieve the right results, liposuction offers a solution. After all, fat cells that are sucked away cannot return. To tighten the skin as well, liposuction is often used in combination with lipolaser. This is a method that uses a subcutaneous laser to heat the collagen layers in the skin resulting in skin tightening. The lipolaser is used directly during the procedure for optimal results.
Ivy clinics stands for honest advice, even if that means no treatment needs to take place. Accessibility, quality and natural results are our most important core values. Would you like to have a conversation with one of our doctors/specialists? Then sign up for a consultation soon.
Please note! Liposuctions are performed at the Westervoort (near Arnhem) and Amstelveen locations.

A beautiful figure that is balanced
Treatment by highly experienced doctors
Clinics in four citiesDuring a completely free consultation we will tell you everything about the procedure, what to expect, whether it hurts, how to deal with the aftercare advice, what you get from us after the procedure and a doctor assesses whether you are suitable for liposuction and / or lipolaser treatment.
The doctor will go over any medication with you. It is also important to take some preliminary measurements, weight, height, blood pressure. To order the right pressure suit for you, it is also important to measure the size in several places.
Of course, there is also plenty of time to calmly answer all questions. Are you very afraid? Feel free to discuss this with the doctor. Perhaps we can take away some of your fear or take it into account during the procedure.
After the preliminary consultation, taking optional medication and taking pictures, it is time to begin anesthesia. The anesthetic is inserted subcutaneously through a thin tube. The anesthetic settles between the fat cells, causing them to swell. The doctor makes small incisions and sucks out the fat cells.
After treatment, you will be given pressure garments to wear. This is because pressure is needed to allow the skin to adhere to the dermis after treatment. The advice is to wear the pressure garment day and night for the first 2 weeks and then only at night for another 2 weeks.
For the first few hours, suture wounds may leak some moisture, so it is advisable to bring towels to protect the car seat. Despite being well wrapped with bandages, it is of course always possible for moisture to get through during the first few hours.
The procedure itself takes about 2 hours. This depends on the number of treatment areas.
It is wise to take it easy for the first week. Rest, a healthy lifestyle and dosed exercise contribute positively to the recovery process. We recommend not working for the first 2 weeks.
Even in the following weeks, adherence to the above advice has a positive impact on the final outcome.
To support the recovery process and allow the tissue layers to settle down, the recommendation is to wear the pressure garment day and night for the first 2 weeks and then only at night for another 2 weeks.
After 6 weeks, you may resume sports in addition to daily exercise. After 6 to 9 months, the body is fully recovered.
The body may feel sore in the first few weeks. If you want to use painkillers for this, choose only paracetamol. All other painkillers have a blood-thinning effect and should not be taken.
We believe it is important to be transparent about possible complications that may occur. Liposuction is a relatively safe procedure but it has risks just like any other surgery.
Swelling, bruising and numbness of the treated area are common.
In very rare cases, infection or internal bleeding occurs or thrombosis or fat embolism develops.
We make every effort to prevent complications. For you as a patient, it is important that you do not smoke for at least 2 weeks prior to treatment and 2 weeks afterwards. This is because smoking causes poorer wound healing and an increased risk of complications.
During the personal consultation, we will discuss in more detail the risks and side effects that are important to you.
After 4 to 6 weeks, the first results are visible. After 3 to 6 months, all swelling is gone and the final result is visible. Once removed, fat cells are not recreated.
Because small tunnels are made under the skin during the procedure that contract after which the skin connects the underlying muscle layer, the sagging skin can also re-strengthen. With subsequent weight gain or loss, the body shape as a whole will change.
